Losing One of India’s Bravest Sons

We seek neither applause nor gratitude because we firmly believe in the eternal wisdom of the Urdu couplet: ‘Khamoshi se banate raho pehchan apni, hawaye khud tumhara tarana gayeyegi’.

India is a fort of the multitude. Each brick of this great nation represents a different culture and embarks a colourful story. To this, we have our heroes who are always ready to paint this land with their vibrant red. Today we honour a man who, through his nobility and captivity, led our country on the road to growth and prosperity.

General Bipin Rawat completed his education at the National Defence Academy and the Indian Military Academy. General Rawat joined the ranks of the Fifth Battalion, the Eleventh Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army, in December 1978.

He had a series of operational and staff postings in Jammu and Kashmir and at Army Headquarters in New Delhi. General Rawat later commanded his battalion in the Eastern Sector, along the disputed and restive Line of Actual Control (LAC) at Kibithu in Arunachal Pradesh.

General Rawat was a bold strategist. He orchestrated the 2015 Myanmar Surgical Strike to perfection. This move set a precedent for the famous Uri Surgical Strike, in which General Rawat played an important role.

In 2019, our country went through structural changes in the defence sector. The change introduced a new post, Chief of Defence Staff, at the epitome of the Indian Armed Forces.

General Bipin Rawat served as the first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Indian Armed Forces from January 2020 until his death in December 2021.

We know that in conflict, there is only one outcome, victory. Jung ka ek hi usul hai, vo hai jeet. I assure you that we shall accomplish the same at all costs.
General Rawat dedicated every hairsbreadth of his body and soul to the nation. We see his resolve in his bold statements and his commitment to his actions. For the nation, he had his blood and bones to rebel. His life journey brings light to thousands of Indian eyes and the will of fire to millions of Indian souls. He led a life true to himself and, in the process, left a legacy that every patriot would want to achieve.
This day completes one year since we lost this great soul in a helicopter crash. In his memory, KarmaPlay is hosting an Indian Armed Forces Quiz. Come and experience the grandeur of the Indian Army.
